By Way of Introduction

Some people hesitate to visit a church unless they know what it will be like. Perhaps we can help you know what to expect when you visit the Church of Christ.

You Will Be a Welcome Guest

We want you to feel at home from the time you enter our building. In the foyer, you will likely be greeted by one of our members and given a bulletin containing the Order of Worship.

When you enter the worship area, feel free to take a seat anywhere you like. There is no assigned or reserved seating.

Don’t be concerned about what to wear. There are no dress codes.

You visit us as a welcome and respected guest. We will appreciate your completing a Visitor’s Card so that we can acknowledge your presence. We love and welcome young children and believe that the occasional noise they make is music to our Father’s ears. If they become too disruptive, there is a small training area located above the foyer to which you may choose to take them, where you can still see and hear the service. But if you prefer to keep them in the worship area, you are welcome to do so. A nursery room is also provided, with a special section reserved for the privacy of nursing mothers.

Our Worship is Simple and Devout

Our worship service typically lasts one hour and fifteen minutes or less. Our worship is simple and participatory. Regardless of your spiritual background, we think you’ll find it easy to follow along and join with us in praising God and encouraging each other.

We try to conduct our service in a quiet, worshipful atmosphere that draws worshippers closer to God. While congregants are welcome to audibly express their agreement with the worship or the sermon (such as by saying “amen” or the like), our services are never characterized by shouting nor emotional displays.

After the opening welcome and Call to Worship, one of the members will lead the congregation in singing a blend of contemporary songs and traditional hymns. Those unfamiliar with the Church of Christ will find our a cappella singing unique and, we hope, uplifting. A cappella means that we sing without the accompaniment of musical instruments. Our singing is congregational, so everyone is encouraged to participate.

We celebrate the Lord’s Supper (Communion) every Sunday in memory of our Lord’s death, burial and resurrection and in anticipation of His second coming. Trays containing unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine (grape juice) are passed among the worshippers. All Christians are welcome to participate.

Following the sermon, we sing a song of reflection and response, encouraging each person to reflect on the lesson and make purposeful application. We also invite anyone who wishes to become a Christian, by confessing faith in Christ and being baptized, to make that desire known by coming forward during the singing of this song.

At some point in the service, a collection plate will be passed to our members so they can give money to support the ministry of this church. As a guest, you are not expected to give. Simply pass the collection plate on to the next person.

Our People Are Christians Only

The division in the Christian church today is far different from the unity enjoyed by the earliest Christians. Believing such division to be contrary to the desires of God, we have no denominational affiliation and subscribe to no denominational creed.

Seeking to follow the teachings of Christ and His apostles, we refer to ourselves individually as just Christians and collectively, simply as the church. And as disciples, we continue to study and pray that we might better understand God’s will for His children.

If you wish further explanation about our worship or what we believe, we would welcome an opportunity to study the Bible and share our knowledge of Christ with you. We hope that you will accept our invitation to worship with us soon.
